18 Months

Anna was 18 months old last Friday and here is what she's up to....

Home
  • Sucking jelly off of toast and then asking for more
  • Eating an egg and cheese omelet, whole piece of toast and another piece of cheese for breakfast and then asking for more
  • Running and falling a lot because her feet can't keep up with her
  • Saying the following, "I sit", "I color", "I eat"
  • Climbing, everywhere! on the couch, on the front railing, into the car, etc.
School
  • Going up the slide the right way
  • Climbing up the slide steps but skipping the top step so she can put her belly on the platform and shimmy the rest of the way
  • Lessons for this week: reaching, touching her nose, touching the floor, laying on the floor, using chalk outside
  • Playing with her friends, here are the name she mentions, Au-re (Audrey), May-see (Mason), Ty-er (Tyler), Jew-fgodfngdingreiong (Juliana), A-in (Aidan)

One more thing...

Shh: Anna loves doing "Shhh" but she puts her finger on her nose and does it, super cute! Anywho, the other day at school when I was picking her up, a little boy in her room was upset and sitting on the floor crying, so Anna looks over at him and tells him "SSHHHHHHHH". Her teacher Jennifer said, "Yeah, that's right Anna, tell him to stop crying and get up and play!" Anna shook her head.

Catch-Up

Talking: This was the week! Anna has been talking up a storm. Basically she's a parrot, whatever you say, she says it, or tries her best. Then the other part of the time she just talks like a regular person, we just have no idea what she's saying. At times, Anna will put two words together, "Daddy up" or "No Sydney".
Here is what we do understand,

  • sit - "sit" - which she tells Greg, Sydney and I to do quite often when she wants to read books or sit on your lap or she just wants you to sit because she knows that word.
  • Yes and No - "sss" & "no" - finally she knows yes and what it means and uses it.
  • Snack - "nah"
  • Book - "Buh"
  • Up - "uh"
  • Bubbles - "buh-buh"
  • Shoes - "Shoes"
  • And of course, she understands SO MUCH more it's unbelievable, we can ask her to shut the door, get her shoes, does she want to go for a bike ride, lets go in the kitchen, do you want a snack, we need to change your diaper, lets get Sydney's frisbee, do you want to do to school, etc......
School: She has been having a great time at school lately, this week they were learning about farm animals and she is all about cows and sheep this week. She goes to the big girl room in the morning and just loves it, sitting with the older kids and coloring. Guess we need to get her some playmates at home. She's had many fits in the afternoon trying to leave, does not want to go, she cries and waves bye-bye, so sad! Today though, she had a Boo Boo report because she got hurt, Jennifer said that before nap Anna likes to go back in her cot space and fool around and basically do what she's not supposed to be doing, and today she got on he cot and starting jumping up and down, which lead to her falling on her knees and then falling off and hitting her forehead on the floor. Now she has a huge goose egg on her forehead that'll be lovely colors by this weekend. I told Jennifer that I hope she learns that jumping on the cot is not the right thing to do. She was also trying to go up the slide when I picked her up today, oh man, guess we need to start teaching some rules. We're also not going to read/play "10 Little Monkey jumping on the bed" anymore because maybe she got the idea from that!

GG's: Anna's GG's (great grandparents) are in town until late October and GGma made Anna this really cute book. She got it from the dollar store and then pasted family faces over all the character faces so it was a personalized book for Anna all about her family. Sydney is even in it too, actually she might be in it more than Greg and I are! GGma also covered up the names in the text with Anna's name.

Mary: For those of you who haven't heard, Anna's baby doll now goes by Mary. Greg was playing with Anna and her baby doll one night and he asked her what the dolls name was, Greg then started giving Anna choices,  Beth, Sara, Louise, Mary, Jennifer, Rebecca and Anna chose "Mah-E" so that's what her name is now. Anna now sleeps with a doll at night and it's pretty stinkin' cute.
