Mom and Dad came over tonight to help with the tree. Mom and I locked ourselves in BL's room and went to town! It was pretty easy considering it came in a million pieces. I'm in love with it! We have some extra leaves so we're thinking about maybe purchasing some extra branches and adding them to the tops of the windows once the curtains are up. It's just too cute....We're a happy mama and daddy.

Getting stuff done
Greg taping off BL's learning chalk board area! What a good husband. Greg was such a happy Daddy yesterday because when he started to talk to BL, BL gave Daddy A LOT of kicks and punches. Greg got to feel and see his little baby move for the first time. He was SO happy! I was also happy he could feel and see what has been going on inside for a bunch of weeks now. Keep it up BL! Daddy has already got a nice plan to put those muscles to use....surfing, running, soccer, skiing, you name it!
Greg is first going to put on magnetic paint. Then once it dries he's going to top it with chalkboard paint. Under the window will go their bookshelf and a nice table with chairs from Uncle Ralph. This corner will be BL's mini learning corner. I guess that's what you get when your parents are both teachers.

Our tree has finally arrived!!! I wanted to put it up immediately but I'm going to wait for my mama to come over one night this week and help me so I don't ruin it. It's TOO cute. It's a chocolate brown trunk with white polka dots. The leaves are a mixture between green and yellow/green and then there are pink and yellow birds. We'll post a picture once it's up.
25 Weeks and growing! I'm looking for some bigger pants over this Christmas break. Yikes! When we went to our baby appointment last Wednesday BL was doing well. We measured 25 cm, heartbeat was strong and all seemed well. In January we go back for our glucose test and another measurement. Keep growing BL.
Front view of the belly. Still have my innie belly button. I wonder if it'll pop out.

BL & Mama's 1st 5K
Early on this rainy Saturday morning, BL and I went for our first annual Ho Ho Ho 5K run in downtown Wilmington. We did a great job! BL didn't like the first 1/4 mile, but once he/she got into position, we cruised through the street. Afterwards BL gave some nice kicks to stretch his/her legs after all that work!. Next year we'll be back but BL will actually SEE the sights!
We're headed to the doc on Wednesday for our next check up. Will post again then.

22 Weeks
And the belly continues to grow....
22 weeks big....18 weeks to BL arrives, or so we hope!
I was 2 weeks early, Greg was 2 weeks late, so I'm thinking that BL will be exactly on time! :)
We're heading to the doc on Dec 9th for our next check up.
BL has been moving quite a bit lately. Sometimes it's a surprising whack, just a nice little reminder that he/she is still here.
I'm thinking these lovely stretchy maternity pants are going to come in quite handy on Thursday, everyone will be jealous when they need to unbutton and I'm sitting nicely with stretchy material on.
Other than that, all is well. Greg is feverishly working on the rooms, painting, figuring out how to put the floor and molding down, and all sorts of other stuff. What a great hubby and dad!
Will post pictures of the room when floors are down.

It's ME! Baby Law!
Hi Everyone! It's BL speaking....and I'd like to admit that I am a stubborn yoga posing little bugger! This morning when Angela wanted to take my picture I was all cuddled up in a nice little ball. I was sleeping! Isn't that what people usually do on rainy days? Anyways, she woke me up and wanted me to stretch out so she could see how beautiful I was. But...I didn't want to! I was content with my feet over my head all balled up. Well, Angela was persistent and jiggled me all around but I was NOT going to move. I'll show her and my parents who is boss! Well then Angela decided to move my mama upside down and I DID NOT like that! I didn't want my mama to be uncomfortable hanging upside down and I knew my dad was watching so I decided to give in and stretch out my lovely body. Once I was all stretched out it was actually kind of fun. Angela took a picture of me waving....I'm such a good waver. I ever tried to give a thumbs up! Look at me go!
And take a look at my foot! This is what I usually use to poke my mama. She loves it1 I also like putting my feet over my head when I go to yoga class in the afternoons. I'm pretty good at that pose.
And here's my beautiful face. See my little button nose? That's my hand next to my face, I just love my hands! Anyways, heart was beating at 140 bpm because I was sleeping and doing yoga. When I start to move around it usually goes up. I weigh 12 oz. I love when my mama feeds me chocolate milk! Yum! I've been in this lovely home for 20 weeks and 3 days now. I'm not ready to leave yet, I think I have it made in here. My food tube, the placenta has moved up my mama's uterus wall. That's great for her because now she doesn't have to worry about having placenta previa. Don't tell her, but I secretly had it moved to make her feel better. And my heart, the most important thing, and why my picture was taking today. It's great! Last time George couldn't see it so that's why they sent me back, but Angela is a persistent Sonogram Tech and she finally got me to show her my strong heart. She was so happy to see it beating nice and strong.
OK friends, what a busy day I have had, it's time for me to go relax, or on second thought, maybe I'll give my mama a few kicks and punches. I know she likes it when I do that. I'm going to keep practicing my kicks so my Daddy can feel me too. I tried to get strong by his birthday but hey, I can only do so much in here. I'll see everyone soon!Sunday, November 1, 2009

Whew!!!!
Went to the Maternal Fetal Medicine doc today to see why BL was so small. After another anatomy scan by lovely man named George who was very soothing, and also had a large flat screen TV mounted right in front my my face so I didn't have to lay on the table with a tilted head the whole time, we found out that the due date is wrong. The not so lovely lady who gave me my due date didn't listen to me when I told her my cycle was 34 days not 28 like normal people and didn't go with my first ultrasound date march 27th. She just said "lets go with the period date of March 23rd" Not knowing anything, I said "sure!" Now 4 1/2 months later and sitting in a Maternal Fetal Medicine office, I find out that we should have went with the March 27th date which was closer to my 34 day cycle and ultrasound information. Lovely doctors. Anyways....BL is perfectly healthy and growing normally, just at 17 weeks not an 18 week baby. Dr. Wright does want us to come back in 3 weeks just to check the anatomy again and the heart to make sure we're on the right track. Fine with me! New Due Date: March 27th.
During the ultrasound BL was moving all around, punching, touching his/her knee, opening and closing their hand, etc...but I still can't feel them. I'm going to talk to BL tonight and so will daddy and let them know they need to punch and kick harder so we know they are in there. I think BL will listen to its daddy. Daddy also likes to talk to BL at nighttime, he kind of sounds like Darth Vader when he talks, but hey, it's cute.
Didn't just want to put up a wordy post, so here's a picture.....imagine us mushed together.....that's what BL will look like! I bet $20 BL will have blue eyes!!!

Baby Law looks like a baby!!!
Hi Baby Law!!! You're so cute!! Everything went well today at the doctors. Baby Law has all the important parts and a strong heart beat. The only thing they mentioned was that BL was a small baby. Scared the bleep out of Greg and I. We're headed for another ultra sound at a specialist , where they will tell us exactly why BL is small. Doc said that it could be for many reasons, possibly because I was a small child, possibly just a small baby (as long as BL grows at each appointment) or a number of other things. So we're not too worried but are anxious to get the second ultrasound to see why so tiny. Hey! I don't mind giving birth to a tiny baby....I'm not exactly a big person, so I'm cool with tiny as long as we stay healthy.
Also have marginal placenta previa, which supposedly disappears within 90% of pregnant women by the time the baby is full term.
We were just full of information today! Geeze!!! But overall, BL has 10 fingers and 10 toes, some kidneys, a nice brain, 136 heartbeat, and is moving all over the place It was hard to get some pictures.
We'll update again once we find out more about the small issue.
Oh yeah...my mama officially has the envelope so if you'd like to know the sex, e-mail her.
JUST DON'T TELL US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

More Gifts!!!
The bag of maternity clothes my mama bought from yard sales this weekend....her exact words were "Banging yard sales....you got a lot of stuff!!" And she was right. Some cute shirts and some goodies that will come in handy once Baby Law arrives.
Green Baby onesie from Aunt Aimee. Green Baby it will be. :)
Too cute onesies and pants from Katie and Chris. You have to see the pants in person, they're just so little and cute. I wonder how I'll fit a big 'ol diaper in there? And yes, lovely Yankee gear....mixed emotions on that one. As long as we're Jet fans then I guess, maybe, maybe not, we can compromise on the baseball team. We'll see.....
And a very cute hat knit by Mama Law for the baby. It was hanging on our front door with a note when we arrived home. We thought Mama Law had come down for a surprise visit, but we know she's saving her miles for March. The hat will be perfect for our southern winters.
Baby Law says THANK YOU for all the love!!
17 Weeks!!
Yay!! We're 17 weeks today. Baby Law is the size of a turnip or baked potato. Supposedly we can begin to feel Baby Law kick soon. As soon as I can distinguish kick from gas I'll let everyone know. Until then, Baby is growing. We're headed to the doctors for the anatomy ultra sound Thursday at 2. If Baby Law is in a nice position we'll know if it's a boy or girl. REMINDER!!!! Greg and I are going for a surprise...if you'd like to know the sex of the baby, e-mail my mama at janeboth@bellsouth.net.

BL's Room
OK, not sure this will make sense to everyone, but if you have seen the spare room, this might sound logical....
When you walk through the door, the closet doors are on the right, in pic, and the window straight ahead. Under the window I'd like to build or buy a bookshelf. The wall to the left of the closet will be a chalkboard painted wall, half way up. We'll put molding to separate the chalkboard paint from the wall paint.
Another view of the window where bookshelves will go.
Sticky note in the middle, changing table
Sticky note on the right, rocker, near the window to calm mama, dad, and baby
It it all fits, we'll see.....that's why we're still in the planning stage :)

(Rocker to the left, near window& corner of room))
This is the wall you see when you first walk it, it's adjacent to the crib wall. This is where we're going to put our tree. Speaking of tree, the the baby expo last week Mom and I found a local lady who does decorative wall decals and she had the exact tree we wanted. She can also make it big. We're going to be a 7ft by 3ft tree for this wall and she'll come to put it up also!! Yay!
13 Weeks and 2 Days
All went well today at 8:30. We sat down with a lovely lady named Linda who did our history portion, asking us all sorts of questions. She also gave us a goody bag full of magazines, samples and other things I have yet to look at. We had Linda write in big letters on our file that when we return in 4 weeks WE DO NOT WANT TO KNOW THE SEX OF THE BABY! We were told to remind the sonogram lady before she started. After that we went to see our primary doctor, Vicki Brown. She was very nice, chatted with us for a bit, then went to listen for BL's heartbeat. At first she couldn't find it, so of course I start to have heart failure but she reassured me that sometimes we need to change positions, so I laid completely down on the table and then YAY...the baby was found! BL was down low and we heard the little peanuts heartbeat going a mile a minute. Dr. Brown said it was somewhere in the 150's which is great. I wanted to ask her to keep the Doppler on BL forever just so I could sit there and listen, but I guess that would have been a little psycho of me. She couldn't keep the Doppler of the baby for long because it was moving all around. Dr. Brown said that at this point they are very mobile and when you push down there to find them they like to jet in another direction. Maybe BL will be a speedy soccer player? Ha ha.
I also found out that I tested positive for Group B Strep which means that I'll have to have an IV with antibiotics during labor, but she assured me that that was no big deal and that it's all hormonal. You could have Group B with one pregnancy and then not with the next.
We're headed back to the doc on October 15th for the fetal anatomy survey where they will check out all of BL's anatomy to see if they growing like they should be. We can't wait to see the little bugger!!!!
We're still looking for boy names...let us know if you think of anything.....but here are some rules, ha ha, middle name is James, so see how it sounds with that. We don't like names that have nicknames that take away from the real name, ex: Benajamin --> Ben, Timothy --> Tim. But we don't mind names like Tyler, who you could call Ty once in a while but their real name which they'll hear most often is Tyler.

Here's a trick that I learned from Misty to help with tightening pants....that way I can prolong buying maternity clothes, since I'm really not big, just dealing with tight pants

Fat
Feelin' real fat.....pants hurt today at work. Really wish that it would just kind of pop out and look normal rather than total chubby belly... oh well. BL is growing fingernails and toenails this week and is about 2 1/2 inches long, like your pinkie finger. We're heading to the dr. next week, will update with more info then. Until then, here are a few new gifts we received.
A funny gift from Aim/Mom. I told the family that I don't like all those shirts/onesies that say stuff like,"I'm the cutest in the world, now give me what I want", "I'm to sexy for my diaper", or "loud and obnoxious". So my mom goes and buys this onesie and gives it to Aimee to give to us. Aim then feels bad giving it to us, but we tell her it's not that bad and we'll make sure they wear it when she's around.
Totally cute surfing onesie from Katie and Chris. Greg is super excited about this one.....someone tell him that newborns can't be put on a surfboard quite yet. Thanks K & C!

A swaddling cloth from Calyn. Something new to us, can't wait to try out. Maybe we'll try it on Sydney so when march 23rd comes around we'll be pros. Thanks Calyn!

Room Idea

What do you think of this tree? I LOVE it! I like the wall color too, that way the room is baby friendly but we can adjust once we know the gender. Oh yeah, about the gender, Mama B (Still hasn't decided on name for herself) would like the gender of the baby, would anyone else? Greg and I are going to have our doc write it down and put it in an envelope and that can be passed around. BUT IF ANYONE RUINS IT FOR US......BIG TIME NOOGIE ON THE HEAD! :)

Oh just blabbing
Well there's not much new with the baby. So I thought I'd update you on some things that I read online.... BL graduated from embryo to fetus, the face is human-like, but that unflattering "tail" has disappeared, fusing into the spinal column, the skeleton is starting to grow and harden, the ears are beginning to take shape and the eyelids are no longer transparent, tooth buds are forming and BL is about the size of a mondo Brazil nut.
We're scheduled to go see the doc again on September 17 for the history and to hear the baby's heart beat.
Greg thinks I have a little bump but I think it's fat.....who knows.
We're starting the nursery next week....yay!!!! Any ideas, throw them our way

New Clothes!
Mama Law AKA "Nanny" and Aunt Anny sent us some WONDERFUL Disney clothes yesterday. How cute! The great thing is that they are for the whole first year the BL can grow with Disney. Now the shades are just too cool, we'll be the stylin' family at the beach next summer. Thanks Nanny and Aunt Anny.
Updates

Hi All! Had our first dr. appointment today, yay! The day finally came! Greg and I went down to the office together and were patiently waiting to see our little one on the screen. The sonogram technician, Melissa, was really nice and talked us through the whole event. She first tried on the belly and could see the baby but not much detail so she did the other way. Once the baby come up on the monitor I got tears in my eyes! What a cool thing! Baby Law (BL) was just hanging out. BL measured 13 mm, less than 1/2 an inch and it's heart was beating strong at 136 bpm. They put our due date at March 23rd.

First look at what we've gotten into
Well, if you're visiting you have officially heard that we're getting ready for our first little one. Wah-hoo!! We definitely didn't think it would happen the first month we tried but we are extremely excited and slowly adjusting to what's to come. Greg enjoyed doing some lovely flips and jumps on our bed then we just stared at each other for a long while until bits and pieces sank in.
Called our wonderful midwife yesterday, Suzanne Wertman, and she scheduled us for an ultrasound on Aug 13 to see exactly how far along we are and to confirm the presence and number of live fetuses. But for now, I'm just taking those mama vitamins, watching what I eat, exercising, and have a large stack of library books next to my bed to get me informed.
Other than that, by looking at sites online and using the calendar, looks like I'm about 4 to 5weeks pregnant. Body is good, no symptoms yet except for the lovely lack of a period. We'll see what future weeks bring.
We're not going to find out the sex so everyone out there who wants to know can just hold tight for another 8 months.
We're new at this blogger site, so search around, see how to post stuff and I'll keep updated and see how to add pictures once some good ones start coming of the belly, baby and room.
