I'm 2!

OK, where to start....we're driving home from work on Friday and Aunt Aimee calls, we chat for about 10 minutes about the upcoming weekend and what we're doing for Anna's party. We get off the phone, drive the rest of the way home, pull into the driveway and I see these 2 people running across the lawn, I think to myself, seriously? why are teenagers in our backyard...ugh! Only to find out it's AUNT AIMEE and UNCLE CHRIS! They surprised us by driving down for Anna's party. How cool!? Now the surprise gets even better, Mom and Dad don't know either! We're all excited, Greg gets home, I tell him there's a surprise but he can't find out until we get to the restaurant (where Aim & Chris are meeting us after dropping Kona off). We're hanging in the parking lot waiting for Mom to get there and up pull Aim & Christ. Dad and Greg have the same reaction, HOW COOL!. Then Mom pulls up 15 minutes later and she is blown away! We are all just so happy, we enjoy a nice long meal together at On the Boarder. Anna is lap hopping between Aunt Aimee and Uncle Chris. We head home and have a nice little ice cream cake for the princess and just hang for the rest of the night. So nice to just be together.

The next morning, it's party planning time! Chris helps Greg with the yard, they mowed, raked, put down pine straw, manual labor, not what Chris thought he'd be doing on his mini-vacation. Aum, Anna & I headed out to pick up the balloons and some remaining food items. Once we got home, it was chopping, mixing, baking, you name it, getting ready for the party. After a nice long nap for Anna, guests began to arrive. It was a great afternoon, after a little storm passed through we were able to hang outside, enjoy yummy food brought by everyone, open presents, and be thankful for the people in our lives. Anna had a great time, very well behaved. This morning she says, "Anna birthday over". So sad, but true. It was a great 2 day event, never to be replaced.

Here the birthday girl is ready to eat some cupcakes!

Daddy helping her light her 2 candles. When we all sang, she wasn't too fond of it. I think it was the amount of people. Once we were done she didn't want anything to do withe blowing out her candles, just wanted to eat.  (Side note: earlier that morning I found hr in my closet, sitting on a chair with a handful of candles in her lap, she was taking each candle one by one blowing on it and then throwing it on the floor - practicing for later that day, too bad she didn't want to do it)

We made chicks, pigs and sheep cupcakes!

Many presents for Anna, what a lucky girl! Here is her new sand toy set and Daddy helping her open bubbles. She also received books, super summer clothes, a Children's Museum day with Mommy and Daddy, a tea set, a subscription to High Five a magazine perfect for toddlers, and tons of other things. Lucky lucky girl.

Here's why Mommy and Daddy had to do a lot of the present opening....she just wanted to eat cupcakes!

Loving on some Uncle Chris & Aunt Aimee

Super cook present from Aunt Aimee and Uncle Christ. Now Mommy just needs to bring some some paint and we can begin to decorate it.

Happy Birthday to our favorite 2 year old in the world!!!!

Tid bits

Anna and I went and ran errands this morning, first we went and ordered balloons for her party next week. Then we searched some stores for birthday shirts, no luck, but come to find out we had one at home from last year that was a 2T size, so we're going to a rerun. Then we went to Kohl's and bough some new shoes since her shoes are nearly popping out of her size 5's.

On the way home it was getting super hot so we went outside and enjoyed the nice spring weather, changed into some shorts and tank tops only to find that that we have almost nothing for hot weather! Buying clothes for a growing girl never stops! I can't wait for the next few children so we can just use all Anna's hand-me-downs, this shopping business is getting old quick.

We then shared lunch together and Anna was being her silly self

And now she's napping, we're enjoying some quiet time on the deck in the sun, and will continue our adventures up north later with some play time and dinner with Gram and Pop. Love the weekends.

Dentist with Grandma

The dentist from the grandma perspective !!  So who knew that pediatric dentists were so very cool?  First of all, we didn't go to the dentist (50 years ago) until we were at least five I don't think, so now at 2? And this is her second visit.  Little Miss Anna Caroline has perfect little teeth, has 16 of them now, up from 8 when she was there last.  Her mommy and daddy are doing all the right things, brushing twice a day and not letting her have sugary sweet drinks or juice. Of course she has NO cavities! Looks like sucking her thumb is her biggest hurdle right now but not a terrible one.  Her space in the front is good, lots of room for her big teeth to come in.  She still has to get 4 more teeth in the back, looks like they are on their way in now.  Even got a report card :-)  Mrs. Dentist brushed Anna's teeth, looked all around in there, applied a flouride treatment, and sang little kid songs the whole time. This dentist office was immaculate, child friendly, had monkey george books, and cartoons on tv, couldn't ask for much more to please this little one.  Gama and Anna had a perfect start to our busy day, she told me how to drive all the way back to day care, stop at the red and go on the green!  Gotta love her. She even took her new toothbrush in to school with her. Going back in one year..........

Seriously love her

Funny girl

Anna knows how to work her CD player now, puts the CD's in, pushes play, dances

The other day on the way to school Anna was pointing out school buses, big trucks, stop signs, etc, then she says "White tiger" I kind of ignored it but she kept at it, so then I started to get scared....oh my goodness, my little girl is seeing things, crap, she's in an alternate world, start freaking out, finally she says 'animals' and I know that means she wants to listen to the animal CD, so it FINALLY clicks that she wanted the Lion King CD we have in the car. Simba is on the front, but he's white and she calls him a tiger, her favorite song on there is Hakuna Matata. She was trying to tell me that she wanted to listen to the Lion King CD. Man was ai relieved!

She wants underpants on now, but not because we're ready to potty on the potty, but because she wants to wear them over her diaper.

Anna is getting ready to move up to the big kid room at school, the 2 year old room. She's so ready to go. The other day she got the chance to go play with them a little bit and she was walking in line with them out to the playground when I got there, boy was she not happy. "No mommy! I play outside big kids!". She was so proud of herself walking with the big kids going to the playground. Once I finally convinced to leave the line, I took her down to the 2 year old room and she showed me all around and what they have to play with, etc. She is going to have a blast in a few weeks. She keeps saying that she's going to the big kid room when it's 'happy to you time', which is right, after she turns 2.

Here is Anna jumping....
