So Anna is a "B" word expert. She likes saying, bye-bye, book, ball, balloon and knows what bike ride means (she gets all excited and runs to the back door - I tried going out the front door yesterday as Greg was bringing the bikes around and she was not having it until I finally showed her the bikes were indeed in the front yard).
She also knows what a chick is and says something to the effect, "shi" for "chick". All from our lovely book,
Wee Little Chick. Anna can point out the chick on the page and can also find the pig in some pictures.
Other newbies: "shoes" as "shs". One of her favorites is, "Where did ____ go?" and puts her hands up like she asking a question and then goes and finds whatever you've asked for. Once in a while she'll say it as, "wuh-ga" which seems like a mix of
where and
go. Today we asked he "Where did Daddy's shoes go?" and she found his shoes and then went and tried to put them on his feet. If I ask for her shoes or my shes she can differentiate whose are whose.
Other things/directions she knows:
- Put the ____ in the pool.
- Go in the pool.
- Sit down (and go down safely) - when shes attempts to walk down steps -scary!
- Water the plant.
- Gentle (we needed to teach this one since she began picking unripe tomatoes off the plant and lovely flower petals)
- Yes, you can smell the flower (She comes up to me and puckers up her lips like she wants a kiss, but really is asking to smell the flower/plant. So then I say, "Yes, you can smell the flower" and she proceeds to walk over, squat down and smell.
- Take that out of your mouth please
Last night at dinner Anna was using a fork and she usually tries to stab the food to get it on, but last night she used it as a scoop, like a spoon, to get the food on and was successful, super cute. She got a whole forkful of pasta and peas and was quite proud of herself. She's learned a lot at daycare, it's cute to watch her at home do new things.
Tonight at book time she picked out her first book and we read it. When I said "The End" she asked for "b-b-b-b" which means more books. So she got down and picked out another. When the second was done, she again said, "b-b-b-b" but also put up her pointer as she said it. I said, "Yes, Anna, 1 more book tonight". CUTE! When Greg got home I told him about the 1 more action she did and he said that when he reads at night he uses 1, 2 or 3 fingers as he read and counts down how many left, so I guess she picked that up from him quite quickly.
